John Huston and Tyler Fish are the first Americans to have skied to the north pole: "The actual feeling was a feeling of huge relief- that we didn't have to get up and ski the next morning for the first time in fifty five days. A sense of jubilation that comes with accomplishing a goal," explains John Huston.

"Greetings from the north pole. We made it!"

A goals of theirs is increasing awareness of the dynamic arctic ocean: "The arctic ocean is one of the most abstract and dynamic places on earth. The arctic ocean changes every day, every hour."

This involved a couple different research projects, one measuring sea ice in the rapidly warming arctic:

"We would come to open water leads which are basically like small cracks or small streams or rivers of open water and we would measure the sea ice at that point."
