The First Unsupported, Unassisted American Expedition to the North Pole

Readers first met Tyler Fish and John Huston in this newspaper with our report on their presentation several months ago to the Chisago Lakes Rotary. Soon, the world will get to know these two. Fish, a Chisago Lakes high school graduate and his colleague Huston, made it to the North Pole, accomplishing the first-ever unsupported trek to the pole across sea ice.

The two embarked from Ellesmere Island March 2. They arrived at the North Pole at 5:30 central time, Saturday, April 25.

They received no airdrops of supplies, used no dogs and each hauled sleds weighing 650 pounds.
