Chicagoan John Huston and his traveling partner are believed to be the first Americans to get to the North Pole entirely unsupported and self-powered.

Huston and Tyler Fish of Ely, Minn., arrived at the North Pole Saturday, according to a spokesman for Chicago-based Forward Expeditions.
